AN ACT relating to license plates; providing that front license plates need not be displayed if a fee is paid; and providing for an effective date.

204.

Issuance of certificates of registration and license plates by county; form.

(a)

Upon receipt of an approved application and payment of fees the county treasurer shall issue to the applicant a certificate of registration conforming with the facts set forth in the application together with one (1) license plate or validation sticker for motorcycles, trailers, including house trailers, and vehicles operated with dealer license plates and two (2) license plates or proper validation stickers for any other vehicle.
If a front plate exemption sticker is purchased pursuant to W.S. 31

206(n), the county treasurer shall issue to the applicant a certificate of registration together with one (1) license plate or validation sticker and one (1) front plate exemption sticker manufactured by the department.

Display of license plates.

(a)

License plates for vehicles shall be:

(i)

Conspicuously displayed and securely fastened to be plainly visible:

(A)

One (1) on the front of the vehicle, excluding
:

(I)

M
otorcycles
;
,

(II)

T
railers (including house trailers)
;
and

(III)

V
ehicles operated with demo, full use or manufacturer license plates issued pursuant to W.S. 31

(IV)

Antique vehicles exempted under W.S. 31

210; and

(V)

Vehicles for which a front plate exemption has been granted upon application to the county treasurer and receipt by the county treasurer for deposit into the highway fund of an additional fee of ten dollars ($10.00), and for which one (1) annual validation sticker and (1) front plate exemption sticker are displayed on the rear license plate.

Annual renewal; delivery of license plates and stickers; staggered registration.

(n)

Annual validation stickers shall be displayed one (1) on each of the front and rear license plates, unless an owner obtains a front plate exemption sticker which permits the owner to display only a rear license plate as provided in W.S. 33

205(a)(i)(A)(V) by paying an annual fee of ten dollars ($10.00) to the county treasurer. If an owner obtains a front plate exemption sticker under W.S. 33
‑
2
‑
205(a)(i)(A)(V), one (1) annual validation sticker and the front plate exemption sticker shall be displayed on the rear license plate.

Section 2.
This act is effective July 1, 2005.
