WORKING DRAFT 2005 STATE OF WYOMING 05LSO-0310 HOUSE JOINT RESOLUTION NO. HJ0003 Veterans day remembrance. Sponsored by: Representative(s) Walsh, Brown, Bucholz, Gilmore, Miller, Slater and Warren and Senator(s) Jennings, Nicholas and Vasey A Bill for A JOINT RESOLUTION providing recognition for Veterans Day and the men and woman of the armed forces who are recognized on this day. WHEREAS, November 11 has become a day of remembrance and celebration for all veterans who served this country in the armed forces. WHEREAS, all veterans should be recognized and honored for the contributions and sacrifices they have made throughout the years. WHEREAS, the students of Rock River have successfully organized a Veterans Day Remembrance Ceremony in an attempt to provide a place for veterans to come and receive recognition and provide a voice to a younger audience. WHEREAS, the ceremony at Rock River originally initiated in 2000 with a simple assembly has within the last four years become a large production for the entire school and surrounding community. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE MEMBERS OF THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF WYOMING: 1. That the State of Wyoming, by this resolution, wishes to honor all veterans and their families for their selfless sacrifices ensuring the freedoms we enjoy today and remember the more than one million men and woman who died in sacrifice for this country. 2. That November 11 should be used as an opportunity for veterans to educate the citizens of Wyoming and that these veterans not be forgotten for their service in the nation's armed forces and that public schools, such as Rock River has demonstrated, take bold leadership in this education and appreciation effort. 3. And, lastly, that prayer be offered for those who sacrificed their lives in the defense of this country and for those men and women of the armed forces who are currently fighting and protecting this great nation.
