WORKING DRAFT 2005 STATE OF WYOMING 05LSO-0290 HOUSE JOINT RESOLUTION NO. HJ0005 Recognition of veterans' burial teams. Sponsored by: Representative(s) Walsh, Gilmore, Miller, Petersen and White and Senator(s) Case, Jennings, Nicholas and Vasey A Bill for A JOINT RESOLUTION providing recognition for the contributions of veterans' burial teams. WHEREAS, during the calendar years 2003 and 2004 hundreds of Wyoming veterans were laid to rest with military funeral honors performed by local volunteer veterans' burial teams. WHEREAS, veterans' burial teams honor the warriors who were willing to fight in lands far away for our American way of life. WHEREAS, each burial team volunteer heard the haunting echo of bugles calling from the past, pulling them back to earlier times when they served in their country's uniform and reverberating with the solemn reminder of duty, honor and country. WHEREAS, when the call of the bugle was heard they once again responded, to honor fallen comrades by paying a last tribute of respect as they humbly, tenderly and with great pride perform the historic honor of military funeral honor guard. WHEREAS, veterans' burial team members hold an abiding faith in their God, their country and their flag, with the red of their country's flag made redder by their heroism, the white more stainless by the purity of their motives and the blue field of stars more glorious by their continuing service. WHEREAS, burial team members selflessly report time and time again for military duty at chapels, churches and gravesites. WHEREAS, burial team members themselves are advancing in age and have their own ills that might excuse lesser persons from standing in the cold, the snow, the heat and the rain to honor their fallen comrades. WHEREAS, burial team members give living testament and final tribute "…on behalf of the President of the United States and a grateful nation…" to fallen brothers and sisters. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE MEMBERS OF THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF WYOMING: That the Wyoming house of representatives and the Wyoming senate demonstrate their gratitude and appreciation to the members of the veterans' burial teams throughout the state of Wyoming for their dedicated service to those Wyoming warriors who have faithfully served in the uniform of their country in its time of need.
