2005 GENERAL SESSION

AN ACT relating to public lands;
creating a state lands preservation and enhancement account; providing an appropriation;
requiring a report; and providing for an effective date.

Be It Enacted by the Legislature of the State of Wyoming:

Section 1.

(a)

There is created an account for state land preservation and enhancement:

(i)

Seven hundred fifty thousand dollars ($750,000.00) is appropriated from the school foundation program account to the office of state lands and investments to be deposited in the state land preservation and enhancement account;

(ii)

Funds in the state land preservation and enhancement account shall be used by the office of state lands and investments to fund projects which preserve and enhance the asset value of all surface and mineral lands held in trust by the state;

(iii)

Funds from the state land preservation and enhancement account shall only be expended by the office of state lands and investments on projects as approved by the board of land commissioners.

(b)

The director of the office of state lands and investments shall provide a report of the use and expenditure of the fund for the trust created in subsection (a) of this section not later than October 1 of each year to the joint agriculture, public lands and water resources, joint education and the joint appropriations interim committees.

Section 2.

This act is effective immediately upon completion of all acts necessary for a bill to become law as provided by Article 4, Section 8 of the Wyoming Constitution.
