Summary/Major Elements: Terms limits were imposed upon elected state officials, members of the state legislature, and the Wyoming congressional delegation, by initiative approved by the voters and certified to the Secretary of State in 1992. The term limits, as they apply to the legislature and the Wyoming congressional delegation, have been held unconstitutional. This bill repeals term limits for state legislators and the Wyoming congressional delegation. Comments: Popular name term limits repeal.
WORKING DRAFT 2005 STATE OF WYOMING 05LSO-0593.E1 AN ACT relating to elections; repealing terms limits that have been declared unconstitutional as they apply to state legislators and the Wyoming congressional delegation; and providing for an effective date. Be It Enacted by the Legislature of the State of Wyoming: Section 1. W.S. 22 ‑ 5 ‑ 103(a)(ii) and (iii) and 22 ‑ 5 ‑ 104 are repealed. Section 2. This act is effective July 1, 2005.
