WORKING DRAFT 2006 STATE OF WYOMING 06LSO-0230 SENATE FILE NO. SF0025 Riding in pick up trucks. Sponsored by: Senator(s) Geis A BILL for AN ACT relating to motor vehicles; prohibiting allowing minors to ride in the bed of a truck; and providing for an effective date. Be It Enacted by the Legislature of the State of Wyoming : Section 1. W.S. 31 ‑ 5 ‑ 125 is created to read: 31 ‑ 5 ‑ 125. Riding in truck beds. (a) Except as otherwise provided in this section, no person operating a pickup truck motor vehicle shall permit a passenger less than eighteen (18) years of age to ride in the bed of that pickup truck on a public street or highway. (b) Subsection (a) of this section does not apply to the operator of any of the following: (i) A motor vehicle operated as part of a parade pursuant to a permit issued by the local authority with jurisdiction over the street or highway; (ii) A military motor vehicle; (iii) An authorized emergency vehicle; (iv) A motor vehicle controlled or operated by an employer or an employee of a farm operation, construction business or similar enterprise during the course of work activities; (v) A motor vehicle used to transport a search and rescue team to and from the site of an emergency. Section 2. This act is effective July 1, 2006. (END) 1 SF0025
