Subject: Establishing visitation rights Summary/Major Elements: Under current law a grandparent, in certain cases, may be granted visitation rights with a minor grandchild if the court finds that visitation would be in the best interest of the child. This bill extends the right to seek visitation to great-grandparents.
WORKING DRAFT ORIGINAL HOUSE BILL NO. 0026 ENROLLED ACT NO. 34, HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES FIFTY-NINTH LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF WYOMING 2007 GENERAL SESSION AN ACT relating to domestic relations; authorizing great-grandparents to petition to establish visitation in specified circumstances; providing definitions; and providing for an effective date. Be It Enacted by the Legislature of the State of Wyoming: Section 1. W.S. 20 ‑ 7 ‑ 101 by creating a new subsection (e) is amended to read: 20 ‑ 7 ‑ 101. Establishing grandparents' visitation rights. (e) As used in this section: (i) "Grandparent" includes a great-grandparent; and (ii) "Grandchild" includes a great-grandchild. Section 2. This act is effect ive July 1, 2007.
