Sponsored by: Representative(s) Wallis and Mercer and Senator(s) Sessions A BILL for AN ACT relating to the construction of Wyoming statutes; p roviding for gender neutrality in the granting of rights, privileges and benefits; and providing for an effective date. Be It Enacted by the Legislature of the State of Wyoming : Section 1. W.S. 8-1-103 by creating a new paragraph (ix) is amended to read: 8 ‑ 1 ‑ 103. Rules of construction for statutes. (a) The construction of all statutes of this state shall be by the following rules, unless that construction is plainly contrary to the intent of the legislature: (ix) Rights, privileges and benefits specifically granted to one gender shall be considered granted to the other gender by implication. Section 2. This act is effective July 1, 2007. (END) 1 HB0153
