State children health insurance program.

A Bill

for

A JOINT RESOLUTION encouraging the United States Congress to reauthorize the State Children Health Insurance Program.

WHEREAS, the legislature of the State of
Wyoming
regards the health of our children to be of paramount importance; and

WHEREAS, the legislature of the State of Wyoming considers protecting the health of our children to be essential to the well being of our youngest citizens and the overall quality of life in our state; and

WHEREAS, the legislature of the State of Wyoming recognizes the value the KidCare Program, which has enrolled over twelve thousand (12,000) uninsured children in this state since its inception in 1999, in preserving child wellness, preventing and treating childhood disease, improving health outcomes and reducing overall health costs; and

WHEREAS, the legislature of the State of
Wyoming
considers the federal funds provided for the KidCare Program to be indispensable to providing health benefits for children of modest means.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE MEMBERS OF THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF
WYOMING
:

Section 1.

That the legislature of the State of
Wyoming
urges the members of
Wyoming
's delegation to the United States Congress to ensure that congress timely reauthorize the State Children Health Insurance Program to assure the federal funding of the KidCare Program;

Section 2.

T
hat the legislature urges the governor to use his best efforts to work with the
Wyoming
delegation to ensure that the State Children Health Insurance Program is reauthorized in a timely manner;

Section 3.

T
hat the legislature urges the governor to use his best efforts to provide meaningful assistance to help identify and enroll children who qualify for Medicaid or the KidCare Program.

Section 4.

T
hat the Secretary of State of Wyoming transmit copies of this resolution to the President of the United States, to the President of the Senate and the Speaker of the House of Representatives of the United States Congress, to the Wyoming Congressional Delegation and to the
