General powers of governing bodies.

(a)

The governing bodies of all cities and towns may:

(l)

Adopt ordinances regulating the types, kinds, construction, installation and uses of outdoor electrically powered illuminating devices, lighting practices and systems in order to reduce light pollution and light trespass.

101.

General powers.

(a)

Each organized county in the state is a body corporate and politic. The powers of the county shall be exercised by a board of county commissioners which may:

(viii)

Adopt resolutions regulating the types, kinds, construction, installation and uses of outdoor electrically powered illuminating devices, lighting practices and systems in order to reduce light pollution and light trespass.

Section 2.
This act is effective July 1, 2007.
