WORKING DRAFT 2007 STATE OF WYOMING 07LSO-0132 SENATE FILE NO. SF0093 Higher education scholarships. Sponsored by: Senator(s) Johnson and Representative(s) Petersen A BILL for AN ACT relating to post-secondary education ; requiring the University of Wyoming and Wyoming community colleges to fully honor institutional scholarships to students without reduction for funds received for Hathaway scholarships as specified; and providing for an effective date. Be It Enacted by the Legislature of the State of Wyoming : Section 1. 2006 Wyoming Session Laws, Chapter 36, Section 3 (a)(ii) is amended to read: Section 3. (a) The legislature recognizes that eligible institutions will have made substantial scholarship commitments to students who plan to enroll for the fall of 2006 school year by the time this act is enacted into law. Notwithstanding any other provision of this act: (ii) In subsequent years for students receiving Hathaway scholarships for the 2006-2007 school year to whom eligible institutions made institutional scholarship commitments beyond the 2006-2007 school year, the Hathaway scholarships provided under this act shall not be reduced as provided in paragraph (i) of this subsection, but and the institution may shall not reduce its annual institutional scholarship commitment to the student by an amount not to exceed the based in any manner upon Hathaway merit or need scholarship funds provided to the student . , excluding need based scholarships provided under W.S. 21 ‑ 16 ‑ 1306, so that the Hathaway scholarship supplants and is not an addition to the institutional scholarship. To the extent that the institution reduces its scholarship commitments under this paragraph, the institution shall specify the purposes for which those commitments were reallocated in its report required under section 4 of this act. Section 2. This act is effective July 1, 2007. (END) 1 SF0093
