Sponsored by: Senator(s) Nicholas A BILL for AN ACT relating to state officials ; increasing salaries for the five statewide elected officials and for judges as specified; providing an appropriation; providing for applicability of the act; and providing for an effective date. Be It Enacted by the Legislature of the State of Wyoming : Section 1. W.S. 5 ‑ 1 ‑ 11 0(a)(i) through (iii) and 9 ‑ 3 ‑ 101(a)(i) through (v) are amended to read: 5 ‑ 1 ‑ 110. Salaries of judges. (a) Subject to constitutional and statutory provisions concerning when salaries can become effective, judges of the supreme court, district courts and circuit courts shall receive the following annual salaries which shall be paid in equal monthly installments on the last working day of the month: (i) Supreme court justices shall receive an annual salary of one hundred eight thousand two hundred dollars ($108,200.00) commencing July 1, 2004, and one hundred eleven thousand four hundred dollars ($111,400.00) commencing July 1, 2005 one hundred fifty thousand dollars ($150,000.00) commencing July 1, 2007 ; (ii) District court judges shall receive an annual salary of one hundred three thousand dollars ($103,000.00) commencing July 1, 2004, and one hundred six thousand one hundred dollars ($106,100.00) commencing July 1, 2005 one hundred twenty thousand dollars ($120,000.00) commencing July 1, 2007 ; (iii) Circuit court judges shall receive an annual salary of , eighty-four thousand five hundred dollars ($84,500.00) commencing July 1, 2004, and eighty-seven thousand dollars ($87,000.00) commencing July 1, 2005 ninety-nine thousand dollars ($99,000.00) commencing July 1, 2007 . 9 ‑ 3 ‑ 101. Salaries; amount; date of payment. (a) Salaries for clerk of the supreme court and district court reporters shall be determined by the supreme court as authorized by legislative appropriations. Subject to constitutional limitations the following state officers and members of the judiciary shall receive the salaries indicated by the figures following their respective titles: (i) Governor .................. $105,000.00 $150,000.00 (ii) Secretary of state ...... $92,000.00 $120,000.00 (iii) State auditor .................. ..... $92,000.00 $120,000.00 (iv) State treasurer.... .... $92,000.00 $120,000.00 (v) Superintendent of public instruction .......................................................... $92,000.00 $120,000.00 Section 2 . 2006 Wyoming Session Laws, Chapter 35, Section 315 is repealed. Section 3. (a) Until such time as the salaries provided by W.S. 9 ‑ 3 ‑ 101(a)(i) through (v), as amended by section 1 of this act become effective, the following annual salary schedule s shall apply: (i) Governor , $105,000.00; (ii) Secretary of state , $92,000.00; (iii) State auditor , $92,000.00; (iv) State treasurer , $92,000.00 ; (v) Superintendent of public instruction , $92,000.00. Section 4. There is appropriated from the general fund to the supreme court one million forty-six thousand one hundred ninety-eight dollars ($1,046,198.00) for the fiscal year beginning July 1, 2007 to implement the judicial salary increases authorized by this act. This appropriation is intended to replace, on July 1, 2007, the unexpended appropriation previously authorized under 2006 Wyoming Session Laws, Chapter 35, Section 315. Section 5.
