WORKING DRAFT 2009 STATE OF WYOMING 09LSO-0383 HOUSE BILL NO. HB0187 Early detection smoke alarms. Sponsored by: Representative(s) Esquibel, K., Moniz, Roscoe, Simpson and Steward and Senator(s) Coe , Hastert, Landen and Von Flatern A BILL for AN ACT relating to public health and safety; requiring the use of photoelectric smoke detectors and carbon monoxide detectors in buildings as specified; and providing for an effective date. Be It Enacted by the Legislature of the State of Wyoming : Section 1. W.S. 35 ‑ 9 ‑ 106(a)(i)(A) and by creating new paragraphs (v) and (vi) is amended to read: 35 ‑ 9 ‑ 106. Powers and duties of council. (a) The council shall adopt rules and regulations to: (i) Establish minimum fire standards not exceeding the standards prescribed by the International Fire Code, the International Building Code, the International Mechanical Code and the International Fuel Gas Code for: (A) All new building construction or remodeling under W.S. 35 ‑ 9 ‑ 108(a) which, for plans reviewed on and after July 1, 2009, shall be required to have carbon monoxide detectors and to have photoelectric only type smoke detectors in all locations required by the applicable code to be protected by smoke detectors ; ( v ) Provide that all smoke detectors required to be installed in any residential building after July 1, 2009 shall be of a p hotoelectric only design ; (vi) Provide that carbon monoxide detectors be installed in all new residential building construction or remodeling after July 1, 2009. Section 2. This act is effective July 1, 2009. (END) 1 HB0187
