A BILL

A JOINT RESOLUTION proposing to amend the Wyoming Constitution to modify the terms of office of legislators
and providing for implementation

BE IT RESOLVED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF
WYOMING
,
two-thirds of all the members of the two houses, voting separately, concurring therein:

Section 1.

The following proposal to amend Wyoming Constitution, Article 3, Section 5 is proposed for submission to the electors of the State of
Wyoming
at the next general election for approval or rejection to become valid as a part of the Constitution if ratified by a majority of the electors at the election:

Article 3, Section 5.

When members elected and terms begin.

Members of the senate and house of representatives shall be elected on the day provided by law for the general election of a member of congress, and their term of office shall begin on the
first Monday
second Tuesday

of January thereafter.

Section 2.

That the Secretary of State shall endorse the following statement on the proposed amendment:

This amendment will change the commencement of a state legislator
'
s term of office from the first Monday of January following the
ir
election
to the second Tuesday in January following their election
. Th
e commencement of the legislator
'
s term of office would then coincide with the commencement of the general session following the general election
and eliminate the eight day gap between commencement of legislators
'
terms of office and the beginning of the general session
