Sponsored by: Senator(s) Jennings and Representative(s) Childers A BILL for AN ACT relating to game and fish; providing for collection of blood and tissue samples from gray wolves; providing for testing of collected samples to discern the prevalence of brucella abort u s in the wolf population; providing an appropriation; requiring a report; and providing for an effective date. Be It Enacted by the Legislature of the State of Wyoming : Section 1. (a) From July 1, 2009 until June 30, 201 0 , the game and fish commission is directed to obtain blood samples and tissue cultures of lymph nodes , reproductive and waste systems from any gray wolf killed, sedated or found deceased within Wyoming . The game and fish department is directed to study the blood samples and tissue cultures to determine the prevalence of brucella abort u s among the wolf population in Wyoming . ( b ) The game and fish commission is authorized to negotiate an agreement with the U nited S tates fish and wildlife service that will facilitate the collection of samples from wolves in Wyoming required under subsection (a) of this section. ( c ) There is appropriated forty-five thousand dollars ( $ 45 ,000 .00 ) from the general fund to the game and fish commission. This appropriation shall be for the period beginning with the effective date of this act and ending June 30, 201 0 . This appropriation shall only be expended for the purpose of funding the sample collection, testing and study required under subsection (a) of this section. Notwithstanding any other provision of law, this appropriation shall not be transferred or expended for any other purpose and any unexpended, unobligated funds remaining from this appropriation shall revert as provided by law on June 30, 201 0 . This appropriation shall not be included in the commission's 2011-2012 standard biennial budget request. ( d ) By August 30, 2010 , the commission shall report to the joint travel, recreation, wildlife and cultural resources interim committee regarding the results of the sample collection , testing and study required under subsection (a) of this section.
