Summary/Major Elements: Current law provides a 5-day time period, following the date of submission, for the state Senate to confirm or reject the Governor's proposed nominees for appointment to various boards and commissions. The issue addressed by this bill is whether the 5 day period in which the Senate must act includes Saturdays and Sundays (i.e., days when the legislature in not in session). This bill clarifies that the Senate has 5 "legislative working days" is which to act upon gubernatorial appointments.
WORKING DRAFT ORIGINAL SENATE FILE NO. 0054 ENROLLED ACT NO. 24, SENATE SIXTIETH LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF WYOMING 2010 BUDGET SESSION AN ACT relating to senate confirmation of gubernatorial appointments; specifying the time for the senate vote on confirmation; and providing for an effective date. Be It Enacted by the Legislature of the State of Wyoming : Section 1 . W.S. 28 ‑ 12 ‑ 102(b) is amended to read: 28 ‑ 12 ‑ 102. Senate consideration of gubernatorial appointments; procedure; roll call vote required. (b) After review of nominees in accordance with subsection (a) of this section, the senate, within five (5) legislative working days after submission by roll call vote, shall confirm or reject each gubernatorial nominee requiring the advice and consent of the senate. Section 2. This act is effect ive July 1, 2010.
