Sponsored by: Representative(s) Edmonds , Blake, Bonner, Buchanan, Gingery, Patton, Teeters and Wallis and Senator(s) Dockstader and Martin A BILL for AN ACT relating to public records and public meetings; providing for court review of actions relating to proceeding s concerning public records and meetings at the earliest practical time; and providing for an effective date. Be It Enacted by the Legislature of the State of Wyoming : Section 1. W.S. 16 ‑ 4 ‑ 203(f) and 16 ‑ 4 ‑ 408 by creating a new subsection (c) are amended to read: 16 ‑ 4 ‑ 203. Right of inspection; grounds for denial; access of news media; order permitting or restricting disclosure; exceptions. (f) Any person denied the right to inspect any record covered by this act may apply to the district court of the district wherein the record is found for any order directing the custodian of the record to show cause why he should not permit the inspection of the record. All civil actions under this subsection shall have priority in hearing and determination over all other civil proceedings pending in the court, except election contests. 16 ‑ 4 ‑ 408. Penalty ; enforcement . (c) Any civil action to enforce the provisions of this act shall have priority in hearing and determination over all other civil proceedings pending in the court, except election contests . Section 2. This act is effective July 1, 2011. (END) 1 HB0119
