Sponsored by: Representative(s) Quarberg, Buchanan, Edmonds , Gingery, Illoway, Jaggi, Kroeker, Lubnau, Peasley, Petersen, Semlek, Teeters and Vranish and Senator(s) Driskill, Hicks and Jennings A BILL for AN ACT relating to crimes and offenses; allowing for the use of physical or deadly force and providing there is no duty to retreat under specified circumstances; and providing for an effective date. Be It Enacted by the Legislature of the State of Wyoming : Section 1. W.S. 6 ‑ 2 ‑ 602 by creating a new subsection (d) is amended to read: 6 ‑ 2 ‑ 602. Use of force in self defense. (d) A person who is in a place where he has a right to be has no duty to retreat and has the right to stand his ground and meet force with force, including deadly force if he reasonably believes it is necessary to do so to prevent death or serious bodily injury to himself or another or to prevent the commission of a violent felony. Section 2 . This act is effective July 1, 2011. (END) 1 HB0122
