Limitation on prosecutions.

(a)

Except as provided in subsection (b) of this section, a prosecution

for any criminal

act defined by statute
shall
only be brought within
five

) years after the
commission of the criminal act
.

(b)

Subsection (a) of this section does not apply to the following crimes:

(i)

ny act made criminal pursuant to W.S.

109;

(ii)

Any s
exual assault as defined in W.S. 6

301(a)(v).

Section 2.

(a)

Except as provided in subsection (b) of this section,

act is effective July 1, 2011.

(b)

This act shall not apply to actions for which an information or indictment has been filed with a court of competent jurisdiction prior to July 1, 2011.
