Sponsored by: Representative(s) Zwonitzer, Dv. and Miller A BILL for AN ACT relating to unclaimed property; providing for abandonment of mineral rights as specified; providing for treatment of abandoned mineral rights as unclaimed property of the state; and providing for an effective date. Be It Enacted by the Legislature of the State of Wyoming : Section 1. W.S. 34 ‑ 24 ‑ 117 by creating a new subsection (e) is amended to read: 34 ‑ 24 ‑ 117. Mineral proceeds. (e) Any mineral right for which the underlying right to receive proceeds has been abandoned under subsection (a) of this section is deemed abandoned twenty ( 20 ) years after the date the underlying right to receive proceeds has been deemed abandoned. The mineral right is subject to the custody of the state as unclaimed property if the provisions of paragraphs (b)(i) through (iv) are met. Mineral rights abandoned under this subsection shall be unclaimed property of the state subject to the provisions of this chapter. Section 2. This act is effective July 1, 2011. (END) 1 HB0233
