AN ACT relating to
combat veterans; expanding eligibility for educational benefits to combat veterans who were not Wyoming residents at the time of entering national military service as specified;
and providing for an effective date.

(a)

As used in this section:

(v)

"Overseas combat veteran" means
:

(A)

A
person other than a Vietnam veteran who was a resident of Wyoming for at least one (1) year prior to entering into active service, who is an honorably discharged veteran who served in the military service of the United States and who was awarded the armed forces expeditionary medal or other authorized service or campaign medal indicating service to the United States in any arme
d conflict in a foreign country

or

(
B
)

A person who:

(I)

Is currently serving in
the
Wyoming
national guard
or is an honorably discharged veteran;

(II)

Was awarded the armed forces expeditionary medal or other authorized service or campaign medal indicating service to the United States in any armed conflict in a foreign country;
and

(III)

While a member of the
Wyoming
national guard,
was
deployed
after September 11, 2001 and served at least one hundred eighty-one (181) cumulative days in combat or was unable to serve one hundred eighty-one (181) days due to an injury sustained in furtherance of combat.

Section 2.
This act is effective July 1, 2011.
