Duties of the state superintendent.

(a)

In addition to any other duties assigned by law, the state superintendent shall:

To assist local school districts in developing protocols under W.S. 21-3-110(a)(xxx)
and in sufficient time to enable school districts to adopt and implement protocols commencing school year 2011

Duties of boards of trustees.

(a)

The board of trustees in each school district shall:

2012, adopt protocols to address risks associated with concussions and other head injuries resulting from athletic injuries. The protocols shall:

(A)

Include training of coaches and athletic trainers to facilitate the recognition of symptoms of concussions;

(B)

Address restrictions concerning participation in school athletic events after suffering a concussion or head injury;

(C)

Include means for providing to students and parents information on head injuries and concussions and related restrictions on participation in athletic activities.

Section 2.

This act is effective July 1, 2011.
