Summary/Major Elements: ● Current law authorizes the Wyoming Business Council to establish a Wyoming market research center to conduct research for Wyoming manufacturers. ● This bill expands the program by replacing "manufacturers" with "small businesses and potential entrepreneurs". ● The bill also repeals a requirement that the Wyoming market research center be self sufficient by July 1, 2003 and the required development of a plan to phase in fees and commissions for services provided by the Wyoming market research center. ● Continues to allow student interns from the University of Wyoming and the community colleges to assist the center.
WORKING DRAFT ORIGINAL SENATE FILE NO. 0074 ENROLLED ACT NO. 12, SENATE SIXTY-FIRST LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF WYOMING 2011 GENERAL SESSION AN ACT relating to economic development; modifying research requirements for the Wyoming market research center ; repealing requirements for fees and commissions to the center and for the center to become self-sufficient ; and providing for an effective date. Be It Enacted by the Legislature of the State of Wyoming : Section 1. W.S. 9 ‑ 12 ‑ 106(b) (intro) is amended to read: 9 ‑ 12 ‑ 106. Planning and research. (b) The council may establish a Wyoming market research center to conduct regional, national and international market research for Wyoming manufacturers small businesses and potential entrepreneurs and to conduct market feasibility studies for value added projects across all economic sectors, including agriculture. If a center is formed: The center may utilize the services of student interns from the University of Wyoming and community colleges to provide those students with practical marketing experience. Section 2 . W.S. 9 ‑ 12 ‑ 106(b)(i) and (ii) is repealed. Section 3 . This act is effective July 1, 2011.
