This act creates the crime of
strangulation of a household member.

●

A person is guilty of
strangulation of a household member if the person applies pressure to the
throat or neck of a household member or blocks the nose and mouth of a
household member.

●

For purposes of this act,
household member is defined as:

o

Persons married to each
other;

o

Persons living with each
other as if married;

o

Persons formerly married to
each other;

o

Persons formerly living with
each other as if married;

o

Persons who are the parents
of a child but who are not living with each other; and

o

Persons who are in, or have
been in, a dating relationship.

●

The crime is a felony
punishable by not more than 5 years in prison.

Wyoming

Strangulation of a household member; penalty.

(a)

A person is guilty of strangulation of a household member if he intentionally and knowingly or recklessly causes or attempts to cause bodily injury to a household member by impeding the normal breathing or circulation of blood by:

(i)

Applying pressure on the throat or neck of the household member; or

(ii)

Blocking the nose
and
mouth of the household member.

Strangulation
of a household member
is a felony punishable by imprisonment for not more than
five
