A BILL

for

AN ACT relating to
termination of parental rights;
adding as grounds for termination conviction of sex abuse against a child or registration as a sex offender;
and providing for an effective date.

Be It Enacted by the Legislature of the State of Wyoming:

amended to read:

Grounds for termination of parent-child relationship; clear and convincing evidence.

(c)

Notwithstanding any other provision of this section, evidence that reasonable efforts have been made to preserve and reunify the family is not required in any case
in which the court determines
any one
(1)
or more of the following
by clear and convincing evidence
:
that
:

(ii)

The parent abandoned, chronically abused, tortured or sexually abused the child;

or

(iv)

The parent has been convicted of committing sexual abuse against the child or another child of th
at
parent;

(v)

The parent is required to register with a sex offender registry
pursuant to the
Sex Offender Registration and Notification Act, 42 U.S.C.

.

Section 2.

This act is effective July 1, 2012.
