WORKING DRAFT 2013 STATE OF WYOMING 13LSO-0054 HOUSE BILL NO. HB0083 Professional licensing-military members. Sponsored by: Joint Transportation, Highways and Military Affairs Interim Committee A BILL for AN ACT relating to professions and occupations; providing for the issuance of professional and occupational licenses to past or present members of the military as specified; providing for the consideration of military education and training as specified; requiring rulemaking; and providing for an effective date. Be It Enacted by the Legislature of the State of Wyoming: Section 1. W.S. 33 ‑ 1 ‑ 116 is created to read: 33 ‑ 1 ‑ 116. Professional and occupational licensure of military service members. (a) As used in this section: ( i ) " Applicant " means a person seeking licensure, certification or registration from a professional or occupational licensing board under this title of the Wyoming statutes; (i i ) " Military service member " means an active status or former uniformed member of the United States army, navy, air force, marine corps, coast guard, United States public health service commissioned corps, national oceanic and atmospheric administration commissioned corps, national guard or any reserve or auxiliary component thereof whose characterization of service upon release from service is honorable . (b) In determining whether a military service member applicant ' s education and training meet a professional or occupational licensing board ' s respective educational and training requiremen ts, the board shall consider any relevant education and training received by the applicant as a member of the armed forces or reserves of the United States, the national guard of any state, the military reserves of any state or the naval militia of any stat e. (c ) Unless otherwise provided in this section, m ilitary service member applicants shall be subject to the other provisions of this title and to any requirements properly adopted by the professional or occupational licensing board to which the applicant has applied. (d ) A professional or occupational licensing board shall adopt rules necessary to implement this section. Section 2. This act shall apply to applications for professional licensing which are filed on or after July 1, 2013. Section 3. This act is effective immediately upon completion of all acts necessary for a bill to become law as provided by Article 4, Section 8 of the Wyoming Constitution. (END) 1 HB0083
