WORKING DRAFT 2013 STATE OF WYOMING 13LSO-0375 HOUSE BILL NO. HB0142 Vehicle identification number-inspections . Sponsored by: Representative(s) Zwonitzer, Dv . A BILL for AN ACT relating to vehicle and watercraft titles ; specifying who can conduct identification number and decal inspections; directing the deposit of inspection fees; and providing for an effective date. Be It Enacted by the Legislature of the State of Wyoming: Section 1 . W.S. 31 ‑ 2 ‑ 111 is created to read: 31 ‑ 2 ‑ 111 . Inspections . In addition to any other person granted inspection authority, a ny identifying number i nspection or rebuilt salvage vehicle decal inspection required by this article may be conducted by a Wyoming law enforcement officer or by a county clerk . Any inspection required by this article of a watercraft's identifying number may be conducted by a Wyo ming law enforcement officer, by an employee of the Wyoming game and fish department or by a county clerk. The inspection authority granted by this section shall include the authority to issue the statement required by W.S. 31 ‑ 2 ‑ 103( a)(vi) and other similar declarations necessary to establish the authenticity and results of an inspection. Section 2 . W.S. 31 ‑ 3 ‑ 102( b)(iii) , (iv) and by creating a new paragraph (v) is amended to read: 31 ‑ 3 ‑ 102. Miscellaneous fees . (b) A five dollar ($5.00) fee shall be collected for each vehicle identification number or rebuilt salvage vehicle decal inspected pursuant to W.S. 31 ‑ 2 ‑ 103( a)(vi) or 31 ‑ 2 ‑ 108(d). If a vehicle is presented for inspection of both vehicle inspection number and rebuilt salvage vehicle decal at the same time, only one (1) fee of five dollars ($5.00) shall be collected. The fee shall be deposited as follows: (iii) If the inspection is performed by a state trooper then in the state's general fund; or (iv) If the inspection is performed by a law enforcement officer in a state other than Wyoming then in the general fund of the county where application for certificate of title is made ; . or (v) If the inspection is performed by a county clerk's office then in the county's general fund. Section 3 . This act is effective July 1, 2013. (END) 1 HB0142
