Catch Title:
Athletic trainers-licensure.

Subject:
Licensure of athletic trainers.

Summary/Major
Elements:

In 2009, the legislature authorized the licensing of
athletic trainers. Under that law, no person may use any card, title, letters,
insignia or abbreviation to indicate that he is a
licensed
athletic
trainer without being licensed.

This act provides that a person may not use those
notations to indicate that he is an athletic trainer at all unless he is
licensed.

Current law provides an exemption for persons serving as
an athletic trainer for a school district. This act limits the exemption to
persons serving as a student athletic trainer for a school district.

The current term of an athletic trainer license is three
years. This act changes that term to one year.
