Sponsored by: Representative(s) Krone, Burkhart, Esquibel, K., Hunt, Northrup, Petroff and Stubson and Senator(s) Coe A BILL for AN ACT relating to criminal procedure; providing for release of the name of the alleged actor in a sexual abuse violation as specified; and providing for an effective date. Be It Enacted by the Legislature of the State of Wyoming: Section 1. W.S. 6 ‑ 2 ‑ 319( a) is amended to read: 6 ‑ 2 ‑ 319. Name not to be released; restrictions on disclosures or publication of information; violations; penalties. (a) Prior to the filing of an information or indictment in district court charging a violation of an offense under this article, neither the names of the alleged actor or name of the victim of the charged offense nor any other information reasonably likely to disclose the identity of the victim shall be released or negligently allowed to be released to the public by any public employee except as authorized by the judge with jurisdiction over the criminal charges. The actor's name may be released to the public to aid or facilitate an arrest . The actor's name may also be released for any other reason if the release of the name is not reasonably likely to disclose the identity of the victim . Section 2. This act is effective immediately upon completion of all acts necessary for a bill to become law as provided by Article 4, Section 8 of the Wyoming Constitution. (END) 1 HB0178
