Summary/Major
Elements:

Under W.S. 36-4-106(e), the department of state parks
and cultural resources must submit any plan for acquisition or disposal of
lands for recreation areas to the legislature for approval.

This act provides legislative authorization for the
department to receive lands in the Guernsey and Warm Springs area to be
incorporated into the Oregon Trail Ruts historic site.

This act authorizes the transfer of lands to the
department in two phases. The first phase authorizes immediate transfer of
certain lands. The second phase authorizes transfer of lands from the military
department after surface danger zones have been fully mitigated.

This act also authorizes the department to manage
certain portions of the land through memoranda of understanding with the
military department and the Town of Guernsey.
