A BILL

AN ACT relating to education;
prohibiting the university and community colleges from requiring
remedial classes
as specified;
and providing for an effective date.

Be It Enacted by the Legislature of the State of Wyoming:

(a)

To qualify for state fund
ing, a community college shall:

)

Be accredited academically by the regional accrediting agency;

and

(iii)

Be in compliance with W.S. 21

Admission of state high school graduates without examination
; remedial classes
.

(a)

A person who graduates from a high school in this state shall be admitted to a community college of this state without further qualifying examination.

(b
)

Within three (3) years from the date of high school graduation, a
ny student

school in this state
shall not be
required by
a community college
to
enroll in
a remedial class not credited toward a degree
or certificate
.
In computing the three (3) year period under this subsection, exceptions shall be made for military or religious service.

Section 2.

This act is effective July 1, 2014.
