Sponsored by: Representative(s) Miller and Greene and Senator(s) Bebout and Meier A BILL for AN ACT relating to the Wind River Indian Reservation; specifying the boundaries of the reservation; requiring state maps to show boundaries as specified; and providing for an effective date. Be It Enacted by the Legislature of the State of Wyoming: Section 1. W.S. 36 ‑ 13 ‑ 101 and 36 ‑ 13 ‑ 102 are created to read: CHAPTER 13 WIND RIVER INDIAN RESERVATION 36 ‑ 13 ‑ 101. Wind River Indian Reservation boundaries. The boundaries of the Wind River Indian Reservation shall not be recognized for any purpose as the boundaries established in 1868 by the treaty between the United States and the Eastern Shoshone and Bannock Tribes, 15 Stat. 673 (July 3, 1868). The boundaries of the Wind River Indian Reservation shall be recognized by the state of Wyoming for all purposes as the boundaries as established by the treaty between the United States and the Eastern Shoshone and Bannock Tribes, 15 Stat. 673 (July 3, 1868), and subsequently diminished by the Act of 1905, 58 P.L. 185, 58 Cong. Ch. 1452, 33 Stat. 1016 (1905), and as subsequently restored by 5 Fed. Reg. 1805 (May 17, 1940), 7 Fed. Reg. 7458 (Sept. 22, 1942), as corrected by 7 Fed. Reg. 9439 (Nov. 17, 1942), 7 Fed. Reg. 11100 (Dec. 30, 1942 ) , 8 Fed. R eg. 6857 (May 25, 1943), 9 Fed. Reg. 9749 (Aug. 10, 1944), as amended by 10 Fed. Reg. 2812, 10 Fed. Reg. 2254 (Feb. 27, 1945), 10 Fed. Reg. 7542 (June 22, 1945), 13 Fed. Reg. 8818 (Dec. 30, 1948), 39 Fed. Reg. 27561 (July 30, 1974) as amended by 40 Fed. Reg. 42553 (Sept. 15, 1975) and 40 Fed. Reg. 43732 (Sept. 23 , 1975). 36 ‑ 13 ‑ 102. State maps showing Wind River Indian Reservation. All official maps produced or published by a state agency which indicate the boundaries of the Wind River Indian Reservation shall show the boundaries as defined in W.S. 36 ‑ 13 ‑ 101. Section 2. This act is effective immediately upon completion of all acts necessary for a bill to become law as provided by Article 4, Section 8 of the Wyoming Constitution. (END) 1 HB0164
