Subject: Repeals prohibition of consideration of the next generation science standards. Summary/Major Elements: This bill repeals the footnote , contained in Section 206 of the 2014 Budget Bill, prohibiting the State Board of Education from considering the next generation science standards in adoption of statewide student content and performance standards for science. This bill also states explicitly that the State Board will independently examine and scrutinize any template science standards to ensure the final science standards adopted by the State Board promote excellence. ORIGINAL House Bill No. HB0023 ENROLLED ACT NO. 66, HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES SIXTY-THIRD LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF WYOMING 2015 General Session AN ACT relating to the next generation science standards; allowing the state board to expend funds in consideration of the next generation science standards in adoption of uniform student content and performance standards; and providing for an effective date. Be It Enacted by the Legislature of the State of Wyoming: Section 1. 2014 Wyoming Session Laws, Chapter 26, Section 2, Section 206, Footnote 3 is repealed. Section 2. The state board of education shall independently examine and scrutinize any science standards proposed or reviewed as a template in order to ensure that final standards adopted for Wyoming schools promote excellence. Section 3 . This act is effective immediately upon completion of all acts necessary for a bill to become a law as provided by Article 4, Section 8 of the Wyoming Constitution.
