Sponsored by: Joint Labor, Health & Social Services Interim Committee A BILL for AN ACT relating to public health and safety; providing for the licensure of convalescent care centers as a health care facility; providing definitions; and providing for an effective date. Be It Enacted by the Legislature of the State of Wyoming: Section 1 . W.S. 35 ‑ 2 ‑ 901(a)(x), by creating new paragraphs (xxvi) and (xxvii) and by renumbering (xxvi) as (xxviii) is amended to read: 35 ‑ 2 ‑ 901 . Definitions; applicability of provisions. (a) As used in this act: (x) " Health care facility " means any ambulatory surgical center, assisted living facility, adult day care facility, adult foster care home, alternative eldercare home, birthing center, boarding home, convalescent care center, freestanding diagnostic testing center, home health agency, hospice, hospital, intermediate care facility for people with intellectual disability, medical assistance facility, nursing care facility, rehabilitation facility and renal dialysis center; (xxvi) " Convalescent care center " means a facility with the primary purpose of providing recovery care services to a patient who is discharged within seventy ‑ two (72) hours aft er admittance and the facility is not a section or ward of any hospital ; (xxvii) " Recovery care services " means post ‑ surgical and post ‑ diagnostic medical and general nursing care provided to a patient where acute care hospitalization is not required and an uncomplicated recovery is reasonably expected. The term includes post ‑ surgical rehabilitation services , but does not include intensive care services, coronary services or critical care services; (xxvi) (xxviii) " This act " means W.S. 35 ‑ 2 ‑ 901 through 35 ‑ 2 ‑ 912. Section 2 . This act is effective July 1, 2015 . (END) 1 HB0034
