Subject: C ampaign finance. Summary/Major Elements: Under prior law, no individual, other th an a candidate or the candidate’ s immediate family, was allowed to make t otal poli tical contr ibutions of more than $50,000 in any two - year period of time. This limit was known as Wyoming’ s aggreg ate campaign contribution limit. This legislation r epeals Wyoming’s aggregate campaign contribution limit in accordance with recent case law from the United States Supreme Court which indicates the aggr egate limit is unconstitutional. Comments: The repeal of the aggregate campaign contribution limit does not impact other, individual campaign contribution limits established by W.S. 22-25-102. ORIGINAL House Bill No . HB0039 ENROLLED ACT NO. 48 , HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES SIXTY-THIRD LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF WYOMING 2015 General Session AN ACT relating to elections; repealing Wyoming's aggregate campaign contribution limit; and providing for an effective date. Be It Enacted by the Legislature of the State of Wyoming: Section 1 . W.S. 22 ‑ 25 ‑ 102 (c )( iii) is repealed. Section 2 . This act is effective immediately upon completion of all acts necessary for a bill to become law as provided by Article 4, Section 8 of the Wyoming Constitution.
