AN ACT relating to crimes and offenses; establishing the crime of interference with emergency services; providing penalties; and providing for an effective date.

Be It Enacted by the Legislature of the State of Wyoming:

Interference
with
emergency services; penalties.

(a)

A person commits a misdemeanor punishable by imprisonment for not more than one (1) year, a fine of not more than one thousand dollars ($1,000.00), or both, if he
knowingly obstructs, impedes or interferes with
a person providing
emergency services.

(b)

A person who intentionally and knowingly causes bodily injury to
a person providing
emergency services is guilty of a
misdemeanor
punishable by imprisonment for not more than

one (1) year, a fine of not more than two thousand dollars ($2,000.00), or both
.

(c)

For purposes of this section:

(i)

"Emergency medical service personnel" means any emergency medical technician at any level who is certified by the department of health. "Emergency medical service personnel" includes a first responder certified by the department of health;

(ii)

"Firefighter" means as defined in W.S. 15

(iii)

"Health care provider" means as defined in W.S. 35

a)(viii);

(iv)

"Person providing emergency services" means a health care provider, firefighter or emergency medical service personnel providing care or assistance at the place of an emergency or accident in the state, regardless of whether
they are paid or volunteer.
