Subject: Priorities for the Federal Natural Resources Policy Account . Summary/Major Elements: This act revises the priorities for use of fund s from the Federal Natural R esources Policy Account. Under existing law, t he Account funds may be expended by the G overnor on behalf of the state of Wyoming and its local governments, in r esponse to federal land, water, air, mineral and other natural resource policies that impact the S tate. New funding priorities include: Actions that promote Wyoming's jurisdictional, economic or property interests which may be affected by actions of federal agencies; Actions that facilitate federal permitting of proposed activities which may bring about further economic development of Wyoming's natural resources ; and Actions that increase expertise within the State and allow the State to participate in federal natural resource policy matters. ORIGINAL Senate File No . SF0078 ENROLLED ACT NO. 53, SENATE SIXTY-FOURTH LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF WYOMING 2017 General Session AN ACT relating to public funds; amending the purposes of the federal natural resource policy account; and providing for an effective date. Be It Enacted by the Legislature of the State of Wyoming: Section 1 . W.S. 9 ‑ 4 ‑ 218(c ) ( i) , (ii) and by creating new paragraph s (iii) and (iv) is amended to read: 9 ‑ 4 ‑ 218 . Federal natural resource policy account created; purposes. (c) In the expenditure of funds from the federal natural resources policy account pursuant to this section, preference shall be given to those funding requests that: (i) Enhance the ability of a county to participate in federal natural resource policy matters; or (ii) Fund actions taken under paragraph (a )( iii) of this section as the governor determines necessary or advisable to protect or promote the state's jurisdictional, economic or property interests from which may be affected by actions taken by the environmental protection agency . or other federal agencies ; (iii) Fund actions taken under subsection (a) of this section as the governor determines necessary or advisable to facilitate federal permitting of proposed activities which may bring about further economic development of the natural resources of the state; or (iv) Add to the internal expertise of the state or a state agency to participate in federal natural resource policy matters. Section 2 . This act is effective July 1, 201 7 .
