Sponsored by: Representative(s) Northrup, Court, Larsen, Laursen and Olsen and Senator(s) Ellis A BILL for AN ACT relating to termination of parental rights; requiring notice of the effect of termination before parental rights are terminated; specifying applicability; and providing for an effective date. Be It Enacted by the Legislature of the State of Wyoming: Section 1 . W.S. 14 ‑ 2 ‑ 311(a) and by creating a new paragraph (vi) and 14 ‑ 2 ‑ 315 are amended to read: 14 ‑ 2 ‑ 311 . Contents of petition. (a) The petition for the termination of the parent ‑ child legal relationship shall state include : (vi ) A clear statement of t he effect of an order of termination regarding the legal rights, privileges and support obligation of the parent in accordance with W.S. 14 ‑ 2 ‑ 317. 14 ‑ 2 ‑ 315 . Order terminating the parent ‑ child legal relationship; contents. The order terminating the parent ‑ child legal relationship shall be in writing and shall contain the findings of the court , including a clear statement of the effect of the order regarding the legal rights, privileges and support obligation of the parent as provided in W.S. 14 ‑ 2 ‑ 317 . If the court terminates the parent ‑ child legal relationship of either one (1) or both parents, it shall fix the responsibility for the child's support and appoint a guardian of the child's person or estate or both. Section 2 . This act shall apply to all termination proceedings commenced on or after the effective date of this act. Section 3 . This act is effective July 1, 201 8 . (END) 1 HB0191
