Summary/Major Elements: Current law provides that a court shall craft child custody orders in the best interests of the children and may include any combination of joint, shared or sole custody. This act specifies that courts making child custody determinations shall not favor or disfavor any f orm of custody. ORIGINAL Senate File No . SF0020 ENROLLED ACT NO. 14, SENATE SIXTY-FOURTH LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF WYOMING 2018 Budget Session AN ACT relating to child custody; providing that no form of custody may be favored or disfavored, including joint custody; specifying applicability; and providing for an effective date. Be It Enacted by the Legislature of the State of Wyoming: Section 1 . W.S. 20 ‑ 2 ‑ 201(d) is amended to read: 20 ‑ 2 ‑ 201 . Disposition and maintenance of children in decree or order; access to records. (d) The court shall order custody in well defined terms to promote understanding and compliance by the parties. In determining custody a court shall not favor or disfavor any form of custody. Custody shall be crafted to promote the best interests of the children, and may include any combination of joint, shared or sole custody. Section 2 . This act shall apply to all actions to establish custody in a proceeding filed on or after July 1, 2018. Section 3 . This act is effective July 1, 201 8 .
