A BILL

for

AN ACT relating to administration of government; requiring the department of health to provide grants to community food banks as specified; providing an appropriation; and providing for an effective date.

Be It Enacted by the Legislature of the State of Wyoming:

Section 1
.

(a)

To provide necessary support of the poor the department of health shall establish criteria for funding amounts and priority order to receive the funding amounts
and shall provide grants accordingly to community-based food banks. The criteria shall include, at a minimum:

(i)

Verification that the food bank serves the community in which the food bank is located;

(ii)

A showing of general need for the program in the community the food bank serves;

(iii)

A demonstration of unique or emergent needs in the community the food bank serves.

(b)

As used in this section "community-based food bank" means an organization located in the community that the organization serves that collects donated or surplus foodstuffs and distributes them free or at low cost to programs or organizations serving people in need.

(c)

There is appropriated five hundred thousand dollars ($500,000.00) from the general fund to the department of health for purposes of this act. This appropriation shall be for the period beginning with the
effective date of this act and ending June 30, 2022. This appropriation shall not be transferred or expended for any other purpose and any unexpended, unobligated funds remaining from this appropriation shall revert as provided by law on June

30,

2022.
