A BILL

for

AN ACT relating to elections; providing that political parties and not the state or a political subdivision of the state shall conduct primary elections; and providing for an effective date.

Be It Enacted by the Legislature of the State of Wyoming:

Section 1
.

Effective for the 2022 election cycle, each political party shall be responsible for financing and conducting a primary election to determine the candidate or candidates to be elected to partisan office in the general election.

Section 2.

(a)

The joint corporations, elections and political subdivisions interim committee shall study the statutory changes required and shall sponsor legislation to implement this act.

(b)

The
secretary of state shall review

state statutes and rules relating to for

any

possible federal or state law conflicts. By June 1, 2020, the secretary of state shall report to the joint corporations
, elections and political subdivisions interim committee
on its review and shall include

suggested changes to statute or rule and any rulemaking conducted as a result of its review.

Section 3.

This act is effective July 1, 2021
