Amendments
These notes stay tied to the official amendment files and metadata from the legislature.
Plain English: The amendment changes the language in a bill about education to require the state board of education to establish minimum amounts of time that teachers must spend directly interacting with students.
Replaces 'required' with 'defined' to clarify the action needed by the state board of education.
Adds the word 'contact' after 'pupil-teacher' and a comma after 'requirements' to specify the type of time being discussed.
The amendment text is brief, so it's unclear what specific changes will be made beyond altering the wording.
Plain English: The amendment changes how school districts can request alternative schedules and sets rules for minimum pupil-teacher contact time.
Removes language about creating a new paragraph and replaces it with specific details on approving alternative scheduling requests from school districts.
Adds requirements for the state board to establish minimum pupil-teacher contact times through rule-making, including virtual education methods.
The exact impact of these changes on current school schedules is not detailed in the amendment text.
