Be It Enacted by the Legislature of the State of Wyoming:

Duties of the state superintendent.

(a)

In addition to any other duties assigned by law, the state superintendent shall:

Develop model rules and policies outlining best practices for the reasonable punishment and discipline of students as authorized under W.S. 21

308(a), which rules and policies shall include best practices for the suspension and expulsion of students in accordance with W.S. 21

306. The model rules and policies developed by the state superintendent under this paragraph shall be designed to maximize student retention and academic success. No school district shall be required to adopt any part of

model rules or policies developed by the state superintendent under this paragraph.

This act is effective immediately upon completion of all acts necessary for a bill to become a law as provided by Article 4, Section 8 of this Wyoming Constitution.
