SF0009 and SF0085 both address issues related to protecting minors from criminal activities involving controlled substances, but they approach the issue differently. SF0009 focuses on enhancing penalties for distributing fentanyl to minors, while SF0085 provides funding and support for investigating internet crimes against children.
High confidenceNeeds review
Possible combined effect: SF0009 increases legal consequences for those who distribute fentanyl to minors, while SF0085 establishes a task force and funds its operations to combat internet crimes against children. Together, these bills create a comprehensive approach by both punishing offenders more severely and providing resources to investigate such crimes.
Why this got flagged:
Both bills address issues related to protecting minors from criminal activities involving controlled substances and internet crimes. SF0009 focuses on increasing penalties for distributing fentanyl to minors, while SF0085 provides funding and support for investigating internet crimes against children. Reviewing these bills together highlights the comprehensive approach taken by lawmakers to both punish offenders more severely and provide resources to investigate such crimes.
This act provides separate and enhanced penalties for persons who distribute fentanyl to minors.
Any person who is at least age eighteen (18) and distributes fentanyl to a person under age eighteen (18) is guilty of a felony punishable by a fine specified in statute for certain controlled-substance offenses and imprisonment for up to twice the term authorized in W.S. 35-7-1031(a)(ii).
This act creates an account to provide a stable funding source for the Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force within the Division of Criminal Investigation.
This act appropriates one million six hundred thousand dollars ($1,600,000.00) to fund the account.
