Subject: Creation of a drug court steering committee. Summary/Major Elements: Creates a drug court steering committee consisting of all members of the drug court panel under W.S. 5-10-103 and 2 members of the senate, 2 members of the house, 3 judges, 1 county or prosecuting attorney, 1 criminal defense attorney and a representative of the University of Wyoming as an ex officio, nonvoting member. The Committee is to review and make recommendations regarding: o State level structural models for drug courts; o Alternative adjudication procedures for drug courts; o The state's funding model; o Drug court participation by county and the best means to increase participation; o Performance measures. Comments: Report Required - The Committee is to by staffed by the department of health and is to report to the joint judiciary committee by August 1, 2007 and August 1, 2008. Contains delayed repeal date the committee terminates as of December 31, 2008.
