2007 General Session Summary for SF0115 Bill No.: SF0115 Drafter: JWL LSO No.: 07LSO-0456 Effective Date: 7/1/2007 Enrolled Act No.: <enrnum> Chapter No.: <chptnum> Prime Sponsor: Senator Scott Catch Title: Wyoming health insurance pool-2. Subject: Amendments to the Wyoming Health Insurance Pool Act. Summary/Major Elements: Current law establishes the Wyoming Health Insurance Pool Act to provide health insurance to persons who are otherwise uninsurable. This act: Requires the board operating the pool to offer two separate eligibility classifications and premium rates, including one for persons with income greater than 250% of the federal poverty guideline and one for persons with income less than 250% of the federal poverty guideline; Revises the schedule of insurers' assessments, which are used to support the pool, and premium tax credits allowed for those assessments; Appropriates $3 Million from the general fund to the Insurance Department for the pool. Comments: Report required from the Wyoming health insurance pool board of directors and the insurance department to the Joint Labor Committee by Sept. 1, 2008 regarding the effectiveness of this act, the status of the pool program, enrollment and budget projections and recommended changes. NOTE: Final action on this bill was not taken at the time this summary was prepared. Should changes be made to the bill upon final passage an updated summary will be transmitted to all legislators.
