2008 General Session Summary for HB0082 Bill No.: HB0082 Drafter: LGC LSO No.: 08LSO-0288 Effective Date: Enrolled Act No.: Chapter No.: Prime Sponsor: Representative Lockhart Catch Title: Trauma care services. Subject: Provides grants to reimburse acute care hospitals and ambulance services for unreimbursed trauma care services. Summary/Major Elements: The act provides $2,500,000 for grants to acute care hospitals and ambulance services for unreimbursed trauma care services. Trauma care service means services to patients with at least one injury diagnosis and one of the following: o Hospitalization of one day; o Admission to the intensive care unit or monitored bed unit; o Cardiac or respiratory arrest on route to the hospital; o Dead on arrival status; o Transfer from another acute care hospital; o Admission directly from the emergency room to the operating room; o Trauma care activation; o Pre-hospital triage criteria; o Ambulance services providing patient transportation to a hospital or emergency room. Grants under the act are limited to reimbursing the grantee for unreimbursed claims which are necessary in support of the poor and grants to any one grantee may not exceed 25% of the available funds. Total grants are limited to 25% of the total appropriation in any six month period. Comments: Final action on this bill was not taken at the time this bill summary was prepared. Should changes be made to the bill upon final passage, an updated summary will be transmitted to all legislators.
