Summary/Major Elements:
This act:
Creates the
"Volunteer Emergency Medical Technician Pension Fund" administered by
the Wyoming Retirement System director and the volunteer emergency medical
technician pension board;
Provides for
annual auditing of the fund;
Provides for
contributions on behalf of participating members by the county, city, town or
ambulance service for whom the EMT volunteers;
Establishes
retirement, surviving spouse's and children's benefit formulas;
Provides for
vesting of benefits and continuation in the plan after termination of active
EMT service;
Appropriates $978,200 from the
general fund for the actuarial cost of the fund not covered by the statutory
member contributions;
Appropriates $148,000 from the
general fund to Dept. of Health for continuing medical education training for
ambulance attendants;
Appropriates $90,000 from the
general fund to Dept. of Health for grants to ambulance service companies
providing EMT training classes;
Appropriates $408,000 from the
general fund to the Dept. of Health to provide continuing education training
for physician medical directors of ambulance services and for $500/month
stipends to physician medical directors;
Appropriates $120,000 from the
general fund to the Dept. of Health to provide assistance grants up to $10,000
for local ambulance services to conduct EMS continuing education conferences.
