Subject: CHINS applicability. Summary/Major Elements: Under current law, a juvenile court has jurisdiction to: Determine questions concerning the right to legal custody of a minor in need of supervision; Order any party to the proceedings to perform any acts, duties and responsibilities the court deems necessary; Order any party to the proceedings to refrain from any act or conduct the court deems detrimental to the best interest and welfare of the minor or essential to the enforcement of any lawful order of disposition made by the court. Under current law, the juvenile court may exercise jurisdiction over children in need of supervision until the child has reached the age of seventeen. This bill extends that jurisdiction until a child has reached the age of eighteen.
