A BILL FOR AN ACT relating to schools; to amend section 79-257, Reissue1
Revised Statutes of Nebraska; to change provisions relating to the2
Student Discipline Act; to harmonize provisions; and to repeal the3

Be it enacted by the people of the State of Nebraska,5

Section 1. Section 79-257, Reissue Revised Statutes of Nebraska, is1
amended to read: 2
79-257 The school board or board of education may authorize the3
emergency exclusion, short-term or long-term suspension, expulsion, or4
mandatory reassignment of any student pupil from school for conduct5
prohibited by the board's rules or standards established pursuant to the6
Student Discipline Act if such emergency exclusion, short-term or long-7
term suspension, expulsion, or mandatory reassignment complies with the8
procedures required by the act. 9
Sec. 2. Original section 79-257, Reissue Revised Statutes of10
Nebraska, is repealed. 11
